Music Manifesto

Refrain (opening – 2 lines)

I’ve lived my life inside these notes,

A thousand sounds but no true voice of my own.

Verse 1

I could bow the strings, I could strum the guitar,

Blow the trumpet’s call and reach for the stars.

The oboe would whisper, the cello would cry,

But success always slipped like a cloud in the sky.

Verse 2

I mastered the harp and the timpani’s roll,

Conducted the symphonies body and soul.

Yet silence would answer when fame passed me by,

A virtuoso alone with a dream to defy.

Chorus

This is my Music Manifesto, my song to survive,

The rhythm was hidden but now it’s alive.

I searched every measure, every word I contrived,

Till I found the truth in The Beats of Our Lives.

Verse 3

The saxophone sang of a love I once knew,

The clarinet danced through the mornings of blue.

Still, crowds never cheered for the music I made,

A shadow of genius that slowly would fade.

Verse 4

But one sleepless night as the drum called my name,

I followed the heartbeat; it sparked up a flame.

The snare and the cymbal, the rhythm divine,

Unlocked the creation that now becomes mine.

Chorus

This is my Music Manifesto, my song to survive,

The rhythm was hidden but now it’s alive.

I searched every measure, every word I contrived,

Till I found the truth in The Beats of Our Lives.

[Instrumental] [piano, electric guitar, drums and saxophone]

[A flowing piano arpeggio builds into a smoky saxophone melody. The two weave together, echoing themes of struggle and discovery, before handing the pulse back to percussion]

Verse 5

Now concert halls echo with a thunderous sound,

The rhythm that lifted me finally found.

The critics all write of the fire and drive,

How the drummer within me has kept me alive.

Verse 6

I stand in the spotlight, the orchestra sways,

The people are chanting the song that I play.

And all my failures have turned into light,

With the beat of our lives ringing out through the night.

Chorus [intensive climax] [heavy percussion]

This is my Music Manifesto, my song to survive,

The rhythm was hidden but now it’s alive.

I searched every measure, every word I contrived,

Till I found the truth in The Beats of Our Lives.

[drum instrumental outro]
