Trains glistening in the morning light,
Shibuya hums from left to right.
An Akita settles by the gate—
“Good boy, Hachi, you know to wait.”
Verse 2
Professor Ueno kissed his head,
Promised, “Back by dusk,” and said
The gentlest word a dog can know—
“I’ll see you soon.” SoHachi froze.
Chorus
Love holds the leash the world can’t see,
A thread from heart to memory.
He waits for footsteps he once knew—
At Shibuya’s gates, and heaven’s too.
Verse 3
Days turn to seasons, rain to snow,
Nine winters teach the clocks to slow.
Commuters share a crust, a smile—
Hachi learns hope is every mile.
Verse 4
He scans the sea of hats and coats,
Each echo ringing in his throat.
Not grief but duty keeps him there—
To keep a promise, breathing prayer.
Chorus
Love holds the leash the world can’t see,
A thread from heart to memory.
He waits for footsteps he once knew—
At Shibuya’s gates, and heaven’s too.
Verse 5
Bronze would rise where paws grew thin,
Stories polished by the wind.
Still Hachi dreamed the turn of keys,
A briefcase cutting through the breeze.
Verse 6
One quiet night his vigil ends;
The loyal heart at last ascends.
If trains can carry souls along,
They met again—where waits are gone.
Chorus
Love holds the leash the world can’t see,
A thread from heart to memory.
He waits for footsteps he once knew—
At Shibuya’s gates, and heaven’s too.
