[Verse 1]

He walked in the bar looking for trouble

A big ole boy they call “Body Double”

He looked to the left and then to the right,

As if to survey the crowd he would fight.

[Verse 2]

I looked at the barkeep, said “Hold my beer!”

I need to address this redneck standing here.

Young man let me make just one thing clear,

“We don’t want your kind coming ’round here

Now haul your rear before I shift your gear.”

[Verse 3]

He laughed, hesnarled, and shoved me aside,

Muttered, “No friend, it’s you who’ll be saying a fast goodbye”

“What have I done, who is this clown?”

I thought to myself as I spun around.

[Prechorus]

There are times in life when you suddenly know

You bit off more than you could chew or possibly show

[Chorus]

Like one of those times you wish wasn’t true

When things don’t go your way like they normally do

When your words fall short of what you claim,

And there’s no one around but you to blame.

It’s an age-old problem we all have seen,

That generally creates an embarrassing scene.

[Verse 4]

About that time my wife walked in,

Surveyed the scene and said with a grin,

Honey, I cannot let you kill another man,

It’s not fair to him, without his clan.

[Verse 5]

Then she looked at him and sized him up,

Said, “He’s been killing men for fun since you were a pup,”

Now call you Mom before I do, this has to end.

Body Double took the bait and ran like the wind.

[Verse 6]

The barroom crowd laughed and howled

Far too long and far too loud

I hate to admit when my woman is right

But we both knew I would have lost that fight
