Too Bad to be Good

By Craig Whitley

[Verse 1]

I’m driving home to Pecos
Moonlight dancing off the asphalt.
Cacti staring down like lawmen try to make-us,
Driving 95 with no fear of being caught.

[Verse 2]

The first school reunion I’ve actually made
Divorced and broken, no love in sight.
Rented a Beamer to appear highly paid,
Feeling like a loser, holding secrets in tight.

[Refrain]

I’m hoping to see Miss Becky Sue Blades.
So, hot, so fine, those hips, those legs.

[Chorus]

She was raised too good to be too bad,
and too damn bad to be good.
I don’t plan on leaving Pecos sad,
Singingcoulda, woulda, should.

[Verse 3]

Growing up we never linked up
I convinced myself it was just bad luck
I was shy, naïve and very immature
Yet fixated on her every curvature

[Verse 4]

Now things are different, I’m a grown man
Every maybe is a yes, as in “Yes I can!”
How will she look, what will I say.
Is she still coming alone on reunion day?

[Refrain]

I’m hoping to see Miss Becky Sue Blades.
So, hot, so fine, those hips, those legs.

[Chorus]

She was raised too good to be bad,
and too damn bad to be good.
I don’t plan on leaving Pecos sad,
And signing coulda, woulda, should.

[Verse 5]

Pecos, Texas will never be the same
If she races towards me and calls me by name.
What is proper for times like this,
Should I hug her first, or should I kiss.

[Verse 6]

The night was perfect, better than a dream,
The hours flew by, or so it seemed,
We danced, we laughed, we hugged and kissed.
And promised we’d have more nights like this.

[Refrain]

I’m now in love with Becky Sue Blades.
So, hot, so fine, those hips, those legs.

[Chorus]

She’s still too good to be too bad,
But she’ now bad enough to be very good.
I’m not leaving Pecos sad,
There is no coulda, woulda, should.
We flipped the story to one of hope,
We married in Pecos, too old to elope.

[Outro]
This was one reunion, with a happy ending
But the juicy details remain “still pending.”
