Threads of March

By Craig Whitley

[Verse]

The sand was warm the sky was wide

You placed the string in my small hand

The wind caught hold we laughed out loud

Our kite was dancing over the land

[Chorus]

Every March I feel you near

I raise the kite to fight the fear

The thread’s so thin but it won’t break

Your love’s the wind my heart still takes

[Verse 2]

The tide would pull the waves would crash

Your voice would calm my little mind

You’d say “Hold steady trust the breeze”

And let the sky be where we’d find

[Prechorus]

The things we lose but never leave

The things we hold the air we breathe

[Chorus]

And every March I feel you near

I raise the kite to fight the fear

The thread’s so thin but it won’t break

Your love’s the wind my heart still takes

[Bridge]

Twelve years old the string slipped free

No hands to guide no shade for me

But every spring I feel you soar

Through paper wings forevermore

[Verse 3]

Now seasons turn the beach calls back

I stand alone yet not apart

The kite ascends on whispers past

Your guiding touch still mends my heart

[Prechorus]

The things we lose but never leave

The things we hold the air we breathe

[Chorus]

And every March I feel you near

I raise the kite to fight the fear

The thread’s so thin but it won’t break

Your love’s the wind my heart still takes

[Outro]

Every March your spirit flies

In every gust in endless skies

The thread holds true the love remains

Till we dance again beyond the pains
