Safe at Home

By Craig Whitley

[Verse 1]

It’s Saturday night and the club is hopping,

I’m headed there when I’m finished my shopping

The new dress I bought will drive men crazy

I’m looking for a rich one that isn’t lazy

[Verse 2]

I arrive at the club an hour later

Some old fool was doing the Alligator

I do the Smeeze to attract attention

Across the floor it was me they mentioned

[Chorus]

The club is hopping, rocking, and dropping

The DJ spins one of my favorite beats

I spun and swiveled with my booty popping

I controlled that floor like I do the streets

[Verse 3]

I spot him looking from a corner table,

His eyes or fixed on me, following every move

He sends me a note on a wine bottle label

It asks, “My place or yours?” Who is this fool?

[Verse 4]

I ignore his kind like I always do,

I’m not a one-night stand for any man

I shake my head no, to say “not with you.”

He turned the other way, to my house I ran.

[Chorus]

The club is hopping, rocking, and dropping

The DJ spins one of my favorite beats

I spun and swiveled with my booty popping

I controlled that floor like I do the streets

[Verse 5]

Another night went down the drain,

I didn’t get a man and didn’t get fame,

“That’s okay,” I said out loud.

Better happy and safe, than in that crowd

[Chorus]

The club is hopping, rocking, and dropping

The DJ spins one of my favorite beats

I spun and swiveled with my booty popping

I controlled that floor like I do the streets
