My Son for Life

[Intro]

[Verse 1]

I entered your delivery room, my heart beating fast,

As I cut your cord to join our family at last.

Tiny fingers wrapped around my hand,

I became a father that day, and a better man.

[Verse 2]

Your toddler steps across the floor,

Little shoes running out the door.

Blocks and toys, laughter filled our air,

Memories growing everywhere.

[Verse 3]

Little League fields beneath the sun,

Golf on weekends, father and son.

Fishing trips near the river’s flow,

Casting our lines where the trout still grow.

[Chorus]

Through every season, joy and pain,

The ties of love will still remain.

My pride, my heart, my guiding light,

You’ll always be my son for life.

[Verse 4]

Colorado peaks, our camping days,

High school lights and football praise.

Hiking trails and mountain streams,

Building bonds with Dad, chasing dreams.

[Verse 5]

Graduating at the top of your class and standing tall,

All the Ivy League colleges came to call.

As you drove out of town to a college not near,

I whispered goodbye through a trickling tear.

[Verse 6]

When the Twin Towers fell, your duty was clear,

You fought for freedom and faced all fear.

A landmine struck and robbed my son,

One leg lost, but you fought back and won.

[Chorus]

Through every season, joy and pain,

The ties of love will still remain.

My pride, my heart, my guiding light,

You’ll always be my son for life.

[instrumental]

[Verse 7]

You found your bride on a rainy New York street,

Through an act of kindness, two souls did meet.

Love was born under your umbrella held high,

Your wedding day triggering tears of pride.

[Verse 8]

Tech companies called, you both moved west,

Careers flying high, both giving your best.

Our distance apart saddens me as years go by,

I replay memories of the times we shared and cry.

[Verse 9]

You’ve built a life strong, brave, and true.

While I grow old and my days grow few.

You may no longer be Daddy’s little boy,

But you’ll always remain my greatest joy.

[Chorus]

Through every season, joy and pain,

The ties of love will still remain.

My pride, my heart, my guiding light,

You’ll always be my son for life.
