Middle of May and summertime’s near,
End of the school term and another year.
Summer baseball’s cranking up,
Going to practice in my pickup truck.

Looking forward to my first date,
A Senior class party down by the lake,
Jet skiing, swimming, having lots of fun,
Girls in the bikinis laying in the sun.

I can’t wait ‘til my first kiss,
A new girl in town, a junior miss.
Sweet and sassy with deep blue eyes,
Golden locks like curly French fries.

Dirt bikes rode on a muddy trail,
Flirting with death and going to hell.
Exploring caves and old gold mines,
Swimming creeks and swinging on vines.

Hitting a home run in last night’s game,
Hearing the crowd yell out my name,
Burgers and shakes at Rosie’s Cafe,
To fuel my energy for another day.

We’ll cut a rug at the rodeo hoedown,
Climb the water tower, look down at the town.

Late night skinny-dipping in Mr. Shaw’s pond,
A perfect ending for long days in the sun.
Picking berries with my girl high on a hill,
And churning homemade ice cream was such a thrill.
